Quick Fix for Supper

Recently been trying to venture out of my neighbourhood for supper. Have always been hanging out around Vivo City, Bugis... We have also went Serangoon Gardens etc. Thinking of our poor pockets, we decided to go Bedok and Punggol!

Bedok 85 Food Market
85 Bedok North St 4

We ordered our all time favourite - Gong Gong (Sea Snail/Shell fish). Not sure if it's steamed or BBQ-ed, but they are delicious no matter how you cook them. I tried stir-fried one at the new Compass One foodcourt, they are not bad, but nothing beats eating them in plain steamed or BBQ style. HTB was unlucky to find a few empty shells, particularly the smaller ones, but I am super happy to find each huge and succulent flesh in my shells. Price is relatively cheap compared to other places, it comes in S$10/S$12. We ordered S$12, and there were about 20 over pieces. Not bad at all!

HTB heard that the Bak Chor Mee (Minced Meat Noodle) was very popular at Bedok 85, so even though he had his dinner, he just had to try the Bak Chor Mee out. I was pretty surprised when the Bak Chor Mee came, because I have never heard of this famous Bak Chor Mee, let alone knowing that it's actually a SOUPY Bak Chor Mee. I bet a lot of foodie does know about this stall, but this is the first time I am seeing and we are trying it. To our disappointment, the Bak Chor Mee is really nothing to be raved of. The soup tasted normal, the minced meat was soggy and tasteless, the meatballs taste like any meatball you can find even in super markets. HTB felt its a total waste of his calories especially after his dinner!

Big Fish Small Fish
Container Bistro @ Punggol
50 Punggol East #01-K35 Singapore 828826
Open Daily :12:00pm - 1.00am(Last Order)

We heard about the container bistros at Punggol quite some time ago. But we have been staying home to accompanying my mum so we did not go out too often. So we managed to find time to sneak out and here we are! This place is nicely located beside Haibin @ Punggol. This is a plus point for me because I am a prawn fishing fanatic! Just imagine chilling out and snacking off after a prawning session. Such LIFE!

Anyway, there were quite a number of container stores and restaurants. There were dessert stores, drinking places, western bistros etc. As I am not a drinking person, and HTB was supposed to drive, we did not patronise the drinking stores. Bingsu is also not our kind of dessert, so we chose this restaurant - Big Fish Small Fish. The restaurant sells Fish and Chips and other seafood snacks. If you realise, I really LOVE seafood. Price point was okay, because the serving of chips is really huge! During order, you can choose the type of fish that you were like to have, and we had a simple Dory, added some chips and drinks. We also ordered the Salted Egg calamari as well. The Dory fish tasted so fresh and smooth. The batter was also very nicely done, crispy and tasty! The amazing thing about this place is, they really have a variety of sauce to choose from. I had my usual tar tar for the fried Dory. Tar tar and fried fish can never go wrong. Next, I took the salted egg sauce for my chip. BOOMZ!! The salted egg sauce is a BOOMZ! There are really too many "Salted-Egg-EVERYTHING" food out there, but this sauce is really not bad! Don't worry, you could taste salted egg in it. I am also a very potato person, the chips just satisfy all my cravings for chips! However, the chip are not the usual potato chips that you bought outside, it tasted more like thinly sliced potato wedges. Curious? Go try it!

Feeling hungry or snacking already? Supper off!!
