Lunch at Big Bro's!
Been working in Raffles Place for quite a few years, we never have to worry about food because there are just abundance of options around. If you have read my previous post, you know I'm all pampered with my mum's great cooking and that's what made me a picky eater. So what I am going to recommend below is definitely a restaurant that's worth your every $$$$.
There are not a lot of Korean Restaurants around my working area, much less an affordable one. Nice and affordable Korean food at Raffles Place, it has to be Big Bro's! This korean restaurant is managed by an authentic Korean *quite nice looking too*. The restaurant offer a variety of dishes and they were all so delicious that I have to come 3 times, to try the below and that's not all yet. Thanks to all my colleagues who came with me, else I would not have been able to try all the nice food by myself!
After taking your orders, the restaurants serves you a few complimentary side dishes like any other restaurants. The side dishes differ every day, but you will always find Kimchi to be one of them.
Their kimchi is the BEST! Fresh, crunchy, tasty. BEST x 3. period.
Kimchi Soup
Their Kimchi soup is really one of the nicer one that I've tried. You could see it come bubbling hot!!! It taste slightly more spicy for my taste, but it's also very flavourful and the boss doesn't scrimp on the ingredients as well - Kimch, tofu, glass noodle and my favourite --> Pork Belly. 'nuff said.
Next up is my TOP FAVORITE. You should NEVER skip this dish if you ever visit. The BEST gimbap that I ever eaten. The gimbap comes in a few flavours, tuna is my favorite.
Tuna Gimbap
Look at that overflowing tuna!! It's wrapped with pickles, cucumbers, carrot, fish cake and vegetables. All the ingredients blended together so well, be it the taste and the crunch of the vegetables.
This set of Gimbap comes with a small bowl of Kimchi soup. Yes, such a delightful bonus. The whole set cost S$10.90. I heard they are allowing customer to take-away their Gimbap for S$8.00. This is a must-try!
Pancake
One of the essential to order at every korean restaurant --> Pancake. Seafood pancake, Kimchi pancake are all my favorites at korean restaurants. If I have more lunch kakis joining me at lunch, I will always try to persuade them in ordering an extra pancake to go with their mains.
Cripsy pancake with lots of ingredients in it. A very yummy side order to go with your mains. Pancakes are usually costly at most korean restaurants, but this is super worth it.
BBQ Chicken
When I brought my colleague here for the first time, she immediately fell in love with the BBQ Chicken. She also ordered the same dish to share when we went back the second time with MORE colleagues. The sauce is totally different from what you have tried at most eateries, hawker centres or food court. It has a little sweet taste to it that totally stimulate your appetite. The chicken meat are chunky and juicy, every bite is yumzzzz...
Ginseng Chicken Soup
From the below picture, you know how tasty the Ginseng Chicken Soup is. The food are so good that we only remember taking photos after starting to eat them. XD. Interestingly, the chicken soup was super nice, and there were also some rice that came together with the soup -- Yes, in the soup. The chicken meat was cooked till soft and the taste of the soup is totally absorbed by the chicken meat. It's a great dish to have on a cold, rainy day definitely.
Seafood Ramyeon
Another yummy dish to have on rainy days, is none other than this seafood ramyeon. Mussels, Squid, Fish cake, Kimchi. I really really love the sauce. Taste similar to the BBQ chicken dish, the sauce is a little sweet. Did I mention that their fish cake is damn nice too? It used to be one of the complimentary side dish provided, but I guess they are too good that they have to limit it to cook them in dishes rather than providing them free flow?
The thing about food posts, are like such. Though you have read how good they all, you have seen photos taken so artistically. But really nothing beats trying them personally! Even if you are in rush, try their Gimbap take-away. It will never disappoint you.
